Canada - Afterwards, we quickly head into the city before it gets dark. When it’s too dark, it’s not good for taking photos. We walk toward the station and the harbor. On the corner stands the Harbour Centre with its distinctive round lookout on the roof (closed on Sundays). We turn right and walk into Gastown. Through a cozy shopping street, we come—before we even realize it—to the famous steam clock. We try to photograph the clock well with and without flash. Meanwhile, we wait until six o’clock so the clock will “strike.” At exactly six, the steam whistles play a melody, and the clock whistles six times. At six o’clock, all shops close, and we decide to walk back toward the harbor. From here, we have a nice view over the bay and the illuminated city of Vancouver. Actually, after six in the evening and on Sundays, there’s not much going on in downtown Vancouver. We walk back through the flats and office buildings to the hotel. In a pub, we order a beer and decide to eat here as well. Meanwhile, we watch the ice hockey game shown on many TV screens. Judging by the cheers of the fellow visitors, the home team is doing well. We are too tired to really follow the game. By half past eight, we’re back at the hotel and lights out before nine.
