The city has jumped into the top 100 most remarkable skylines, now ranking 44th. Five years ago, Abu Dhabi did not even appear on the list, and a year ago it was 89th. Modern skyscrapers are being built at a rapid pace. Abu Dhabi city lies on a T-shaped island, making the skyline visible from the water. The skyline ranking counts the number and height of buildings with 12 floors or more in each city. Points are awarded based on the number of floors—for example, buildings with 12–19 floors score 1 point, while those with 100 or more floors can earn up to 600 points.
