Bulgaria - Around four o’clock, I arrive at the Yagodina Cave. I put my backpack and camera in the bus. Photos are not allowed inside the cave. The guide welcomes me. He tells his story in Bulgarian, and Svetoslava translates for us. I look at the guide as he speaks Bulgarian. There is truly not a single word or facial expression from which I can understand what he is talking about. Bulgarian is such a difficult language. The Yagodina Cave is a cave system with more than ten kilometers of tunnels spread over three levels. Immediately upon entering the cave, I see stalactites hanging from the ceiling. A beautiful sight. The route through the cave passes several underground chambers. Sometimes the passage is very narrow, or I must duck to avoid hitting the stalactites. It was no coincidence we were warned beforehand: “don’t disturb the stalactites with your head.” I follow the path through the caves for over one kilometer. I am impressed by the beautiful rock formations in these caves. When I come outside again, I really notice how cool it was inside. It feels as if the heater is on outside.
