France - Eze-Village is an enchanting medieval hilltop village that towers above the Mediterranean Sea, between Nice and Monaco. The village sits on a steep rock at approximately four hundred meters high and offers spectacular panoramas over the Côte d’Azur coastline. From afar, the silhouette of Eze is visible, with its compact buildings and narrow streets winding like a labyrinth around the rock. The village dates back to the Middle Ages, and that heritage is still felt everywhere. The old stone houses are tightly packed and interspersed with small arches, stairs, and passageways. Cars are not allowed here, which gives the village a sense of calm and authenticity. The streets are lined with artisanal shops, art galleries, and small boutiques, often housed in centuries-old buildings. Flowers, climbing plants, and colorful shutters give the village a picturesque character. In the heart of Èze-Village stands the Église Notre-Dame de l’Assomption, an elegant eighteenth-century church with a striking ochre facade and a white bell tower. On the ruins of the former castle lies the Jardin Exotique, a botanical garden with cacti and succulents from around the world. From here, there is a breathtaking view of the sea, mountains, and surrounding villages. Èze-Village is small, but its compactness is part of its charm. The village exudes a calm, almost timeless atmosphere despite the many visitors. Hikers often reach Èze via the famous Chemin de Nietzsche, a historic path winding up from Èze-sur-Mer. A visit to Èze-Village is a unique combination of history, nature, and panoramic beauty, making it an unforgettable highlight of the French Riviera.
