Germany - The Bed and Breakfast is located right in the center of Monschau. Everywhere stand the typical half-timbered houses. It feels as if time has stood still here. We wander through the streets. The old center of Monschau isn’t very large, but every street is charming. Through narrow streets and steps, we reach the Haller ruin, remnants of old fortifications. Especially the view from here is beautiful. On the other hill stands the castle where the Counts of Jülichin built a fortress in the 13th century. Since the early last century, a youth hostel has been located in the fortress. On the terrace by the water, we soak in the atmosphere of Monschau while enjoying a drink. In the afternoon, we visit the Rote Haus (Red House). In this characteristic and prominently located red building in the center lived the Scheibler family. They started the production and sale of linen in Monschau. Following the Scheiblers, more linen traders settled in Monschau.
