North_Macedonia - The Church of Saint John at Kaneo is a Macedonian Orthodox church located on Kaneo beach, overlooking Lake Ohrid in Macedonia. The exact date of its construction is unknown, but archaeologists believe it was built sometime before the rise of the Ottoman Empire—most likely in the 13th century. A restoration in 1964 led to the discovery of frescoes in the dome. The church was built in the shape of a cross with a rectangular base. The architect is unknown, but is believed to have been influenced by Armenian church architecture. Inside, a wooden iconostasis was constructed, displaying numerous saints alongside the Virgin Mary. A fresco of Christ Pantocrator can be seen in the dome of the church. A fresco of Saint Clement of Ohrid, accompanied by Saint Erasmus of Ohrid, is visible on one of the church walls.
