Italy - Florence is located in the photogenic region of Tuscany, in the heart of Italy. Known as the cradle of the Renaissance, the city is filled with architectural masterpieces and artworks from that era and earlier. The most famous example is Michelangelo’s David. The Ponte Vecchio is a renowned medieval bridge over the Arno River, famous for its jewelry shops and an elevated corridor that allowed nobility to cross without mingling with the general public. The Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore is affectionately called “Il Duomo” by locals. This short, powerful nickname fits the stately “Lady of Florence” perfectly. Construction began over 700 years ago, but it took centuries to complete. The result is stunning—Il Duomo is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful churches in Europe.
