The collections range from ancient Egyptian art to classical sculptures, medieval art, Renaissance art, cartography, ethnography, and more. The highlight of the Vatican Museum is undoubtedly the Sistine Chapel. This famous chapel is renowned for its ceiling paintings, including Michelangelo's masterpiece, the Last Judgment fresco. The Raphael Rooms are a series of chambers painted by the famous artist Raphael and his students, containing some of the most elegant frescoes of the Renaissance. The Gallery of Maps is a long corridor with detailed maps of Italy painted on the walls, offering a visual journey through 16th-century Italy. The Borgia Apartments contain frescoes attributed to Pinturicchio and his workshop. These rooms are named after Pope Alexander VI, whose family name was Borgia.
